Quicktime IE8 Popup Settings

We've designed a feature on the site that allows you to continue to listen to audio files while you view the site, look at images, and navigate to other pages. This feature works as expected in most browsers. However, Internet Explorer's default settings need to be modified for the feature to work properly.

How can I choose to display pop-ups in a new window?

You can choose to always display pop-ups on a new tab, to always display them in a new window, or to let Internet Explorer decide how to display them. If you opt to let Internet Explorer decide how to display pop-ups, it will display the pop-up in a new window if the pop-up specifies size or display requirements. Otherwise, the pop-up is displayed in a new tab.

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the General tab, and then, in the Tabs section, click Settings.
  4. In the When a pop-up is encountered section select 'Let Internet Explorer decide...' or 'Always open pop-ups in a new window'.
  5. Click OK twice.

IE8 Popup Blocker

How can I choose to allow pop-ups from a specific website?

You should not need to adjust the pop-up blocker settings as our pop-up is generated by and for use on our site, and is therefore not considered to be a risk.

By default, Internet Explorer displays pop-ups that appear as a result of you clicking a link or button. Pop-up Blocker blocks pop-ups that are displayed automatically (without you clicking a link or button). If you want to allow a specific website to display automatic pop-ups, follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button, click Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  3. In the Address of website to allow box, type the address (or URL) of the website you want to see pop-ups from, and then click Add.
  4. Repeat step 3 for every website you want to allow pop-ups from. When you are finished adding websites, click Close.

Mp3 in Safari for Mac OS X 10.6

Why do I get a QuickTime 'Q' when an Mp3 Loads in the player?

For now anyone using Safari on OS X 10.6 will have to click on the Mp3 link inside the popup to listen to the music file instead of just clicking on the link in the game page. It appears that there might be a bug in the way Safari is identifying the proper media plugin for Mp3s that have ID3 tags and are hosted on a WebKit enabled server.
Our only options would be to create a different player for Mp3s or strip all ID3 data from the audio files, neither of which are we inclined to do.
