The Little Engine That Could
If you like underdog stories, David and Goliath stories, than you'll love the story of the PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16.
NEC was (and is) an electronics manufacturing giant. If you ever cracked open an old NES or game cartridge you'd find NEC chips all over the place. Since they had the design and manufacturing know-how, they decided to enter the console game market with their own system.
Althought the system was wildly successful in Japan, it is believed that NEC probably launched in the American market about a year too late.
Even after NEC pulled out of the project, a group of die-hard acolytes pushed forward under the Turbo-Duo flagship. The power of Nintendo ultimately prevailed, but the Yamato spirit lives on in those who remember the days of TurboGrafx-16!
